Her journey into skincare began as a small girl. Growing up, She would spend full days mashing wild plants into a pulp and covering herself, and everyone who would humor her in “potions” made from these vibrant green liquids and the clays she would dig from the iron rich soil in her yard.
May is passionate about pure, potent ingredients and about a return to our roots. May Lindstrom arrives in France for the first time in 2014 on Bazar Bio.
Nowadays The Blue Cocoon, her fetish product has become a cult product for our customers.

What is your skin type ?

My skin was a battleground from birth all the way throughout my teens and into my adulthood. Keeping my complexion clear and healthy has been a lifetime focus. I have the kind of skin that breaks out in rashes and hives, that blisters on contact with certainly synthetic ingredients, particularly preservatives. I've had my share of hormonal acne (early twenties and during my pregnancy) and an ongoing challenge with perioral dermatitis and eczema. Now in my thirties, my skin is the best it has ever been. I've learned what fuels my body best from the inside, what nourishes and feeds my skin topically and a number of lifestyle choices that are vital for keeping my whole self in balance. It takes commitment and care, but that is something I (and every woman and man) deserves fully.

What is your daily beauty regimen ? Your weekly routine ?

In the morning I keep things very simple - a splash of cool water and gentle massage most days, followed by The Youth Dew or The Blue Cocoon and The Jasmine Garden. If I'm feeling dehydrated and sensitive, I'll wear The Honey Mud into the shower, giving myself a quick enzyme and antioxidant treatment, and protecting my skin from evaporation of precious oils. Before I exit the shower, I treat every inch of my body to The Good Stuff for head-to-toe hydration and protection. It's the sexiest treat ever, and leaves skin simply glowing. In the evening, I'll cleanse with The Honey Mud (it's a double duty powerhouse), every second or third day adding in The Clean Dirt to effectively exfoliate, brighten, restore tone and give serious glow. Once or twice a week, I take a time out to indulge in a full treatment with The Problem Solver. It's warming, powerfully detoxifying, and an anti-inflammatory superhero. After, massage with The Youth Dew, followed by The Blue Cocoon, and a generous mist of The Jasmine Garden.

What do you do if you have a spot ?

The Problem Solver. Always. It's a miracle worker. Weekly or bi-weekly masquing makes a world of difference in my complexion. I also blend The Problem Solver with either The Youth Dew or The Blue Cocoon to create a custom spot treatment - The Youth Dew for active, wet pimples and The Blue Cocoon for painful, inflamed cystic acne.

What is your make-up for the day ? for the night ?

I am pretty minimal in general, but it's fun to play sometimes. For the day, I keep my skin clean and fresh, prepping with The Youth Dew, followed by The Blue Cocoon (gorgeous to highlight around eye crescent as well). A touch of Kjaer Weis cream blush adds the perfect color. I layer "Desired Glow" and "Lovely" for a super natural flush that makes me look and feel a little bit giddy. I have thin brows, so fill them out a bit with a powder from Alima Pure and then a bit of color on my lips - lately it's been W3ll People's Nudist Color Balm in Poppy.
If I'm headed out for a date night, I'll swap the balm for Ilia Beauty's Arabian Nights lip conditioner, add a smokey eye from Alima Pure and if I'm really going for it, lashes with W3ll People's mascara. And of course - The Good Stuff to highlight skin everywhere - especially shoulders, decollete and legs.

What do you use for your body ?

For my body, I love dry brushing before I shower. It is fantastic for increasing your circulation and normalizing your body's oil production. Brush towards your heart, and do your entire body toes to neck. Then, step into your shower and cleanse with something very gentle and nourishing. I like Dr Bronners baby formula (or almond), just on the main parts, allowing water to cleanse on its own everywhere else. Rinse well, and while skin is still soaking wet, massage in The Good Stuff generously on your full body. It will feel incredible, and leave you soft and silky. I do this every time I shower - try it for yourself and you'll notice an immediate and significant difference in the health and radiance of your skin.

What are your May Lindstrom favorite products ?

The Blue Cocoon is my absolute favorite treat of all time, on the entire planet. The Blue Cocoon is essentially the most beautiful facial oil you’ve ever experienced in a unique waterless and waxless balm form. In the jar, it is a solid. Once it touches skin, it turns immediately to a lovely fluid. This is used both as a daily hydrator or as a special treatment for skin that is sensitive, inflamed, damaged, acneic or irritated. It can be used as a spot treatment or for the full face, neck and decollete. It is a powerful anti-inflammatory and soothes skin in the most beautiful way, providing the perfect level of hydration and healing, eliminating any redness and irritation. It works wonderfully for all skin types, and is especially effective for those prone to eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis and rosacea. This contains blue tansy, which calms and relieves inflammation on a magical level. It's like a meditation and spa vacation for your skin - in aromatherapy, blue tansy is used to reduce anxiety, heal sleep disorders and soften the feeling of being out of control. Total bonus - this can double as my favorite eye and lip treatment of all time.

What is your make-up tip ?

I love to blend Alima Pure Satin Matte foundation (W3ll People's foundation powders are great too) directly with The Blue Cocoon or The Youth Dew to create a super skin friendly custom foundation. It's perfect for those like me who often struggle to find a creamy base that doesn't irritate or break out my skin - and ensures an easier color match as pure minerals provide so many more options for all skin tones.

Do you have a special beauty tip ?

The one I try to follow is the one I also encourage in my clients: Eat the rainbow. Move your body. Breathe. Romance yourself to the point of blushing. Know that you are beautiful. Beauty is a reflection of your inner self - prioritize your own deliciousness, and be truly, fully, authentically You. Be sure that you create time to rest your body and your mind, to play and encourage opportunity for learning and joy, to share yourself fully with others and also to embrace moments of time alone. When we are happy and intimately immersed in our world, our beauty cannot help but shine through.

Do you have a beauty DIY recipe ?

Before a bath, blend together a heaping spoon of raw honey, a sprinkle of high quality true ceylon cinnamon and half a teaspoon of chlorella powder. Massage over freshly cleansed skin, and sink into your bath water. Allow the steam to activate the raw enzymes while you soak. After, you will absolutely glow.

Do you have a special beauty recipe (like a detox recipe) ?

Traditional, but highly effective - first thing in the morning, treat yourself to warm water with generous fresh lemon and a touch of raw honey. If I'm feeling low energy or my immune system is down, I'll add a good shake of cayenne pepper and take it like a shot. It's powerful, and works. Turmeric is another major ingredient that is vital for health and beauty.

What do you always have in your bag ?

The Blue Cocoon. It has a permanent spot in my purse—and another in my bathroom and on my nightstand and on on my desk at the studio - and a mini size in my pocket. I seriously cannot get enough. It's beautiful under makeup or a bit over the top to add glow, as an eye and lip treatment, run through my hair to smooth flyaways, to define my curls, and to envelop me in the most beautiful scent. It's the singular item that keeps my highly irritable skin calm and happy and the blue tansy works wonders on my anxiety, easing stress and tension effortlessly.

What is the future of May Linfdstrom ? What is your future product ?

I have so many dreams about what is ahead. We are growing quickly, but my foundation and core philosophy stands firmly on the grounds of intimacy, on being special, and on delivering the most over-the-top client service and a truly personal experience. I want the Skin collection to remain compact and concise, and for each piece to play a vital part of my ideal ritual. I have no desire to add dozens of new treats to the line, but I very much wish to continue adding to our story, and to bring in new pieces that deepen our connection to self and skin. Looking forward, I see space for more collaboration with other artisans, for just a few more special products that I feel deeply pulled to develop, and I am also looking every day to discover more ways to delight each client individually - asking myself what more I can share that will show each and every one of you how truly grateful I am for your support of this dream of mine.
